Digitized Class Yearbook....2006 It's Your Year How Will You Remember It? Mirror from the New York Heritage digital Ilion Free Public Library Yearbooks collection. Unfortunately, this yearbook contains many, many different fonts that were not readable by the New York Heritage - ABBYY FineReader OCR to produce PDF index text. Top Scholars of the IHS Class of 2006 ....Ilion High School Principal, Renee Rudd, has announced the "Top Scholars" for the Class of 2006 at Ilion High School. Each of these students attained a final average of 90 per cent or better. Rachel Bigelow is the 2006 valedictorian. Bigelow's academic efforts have earned her membership in both the Junior Honor Society and Senior National Honor Society. She has been on the high honor roll each quarter of high school and has received the Honor I award each year. This year, she is enrolled in Advanced Placement Calculus and English. In her junior year, she was awarded the Humanities and Social Science Award from the University of Rochester for outstanding academic achievement. Bigelow has balanced her scholastic endeavors with a variety of extracurricular activities. She has participated at the highest level in Ilion's athletic program, including soccer, volleyball and track. She has further been a great talent to Ilion's musical program and has actively participated in concert band, all-county band, marching band,woodwind ensemble, flute quartet, as well as being a part of the high school musical. Bigelow has further taken on leadership roles in school by serving as both president and treasurer of Key Club and as the Class of 2006 treasurer for the past four years. She has been accepted to Hamilton College in the fall where she plans to major in government. Christopher Maley is the salutatorian for the class of 2006. Maley has distinguished himself in both the classroom and extracurricular activities. Since beginning high school, he has been on the high honor roll each quarter and has earned the Honor I Award each year. He has been selected for membership in both the National Junior Honor Society and the Senior National Honor Society. This year, Maley is enrolled in Advanced Placement Calculus and English. In his junior year, he was awarded the RIT Computing Award for outstanding achievement in science and math. Maley has also been involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. He has participated at the highest level of the athletic program as a team player and great asset to the basketball, baseball and football teams at IHS. He has further taken on leadership roles in school by serving on Student Council since his freshman year, as well as participating in Spanish Club, Math Club, Drama Club, Youth Summit and National Honor Society. He plans on attending Clarkson University, where he will major in engineering. Condolences....Mr. Lauren M Krick, IHS 2006, 34, of Ilion affectionately known as "WooWoo" passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 in Faxton/St Luke's Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Ilion, New York on August 13, 1987, the son of David and Sherry Rex Krick. Lauren was employed by Spohn's Disposal, Mohawk for many years. He was an avid bowler and worked as a shift manager at Pin O Rama. He was a fan of WWE Wrestling, Buffalo Bills fan, The Mets, Syracuse sports, E-Sports and Super Card. Lauren also enjoyed fishing and camping, karaoke and the music of Metallica and was a DVD Collector. Lauren is survived by his father and mother, David and Sherry Krick; two brothers and sisters in law, David and his wife, Melissa Krick of Dolgeville and Bryan and his wife, Robecca Krick of Ilion; three sisters and brothers in law, Heather and her husband, George Watson of Ilion, Kelly and her husband, Keith Marlowe of Malone and Tracey and her husband, Jeremy King of Ilion; his maternal grandmother, Carol Rex of Ilion; his special relatives, Hayes family; his beloved canines, Ginger and Pebbles; his goat, Beefy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His funeral will be held Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort where a funeral service will be celebrated by the Rev. John Partise. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 7 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lauren's memory may be made to Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 NY-5S, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Jacob M. Hence, IHS 2006 age 31, affectionately known to so many of us as "Jake", age 31, of Ilion, New York, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Jake was born on October 7, 1988, in Ilion, a son of Colleen Lynne Metz. He lived most of his life in Ilion and attended Ilion High School. Jake is survived by his mother, Colleen; his grandmother, Judith Metz; 2 brothers, Jeremy (Tara) Becker and their son Cameron and Josh Becker (Rob Mullin); his beloved daughter Julianna "Chooch" Hence and her mother, Nicole Petkovsek; his uncles & aunts, Gary and Noreen Metz, Bill and Juli Metz, Jeff and Andrea Metz, Dale and Courtney Metz and Kristy Metz and Dashun; his cousins, Andy, Katie, Brendon, Brandon, Tyler, Ashlyn, Easton, Abrianna, Cody, Rylin, Maddie, Charlotte, Harper, Lauren and Haley. He was predeceased by his grandfather, William Metz. Jake loved life and enjoyed many things, such as golf and softball, but he especially cherished the time spent with his daughter, family, and friends. He was a huge fan of the Dave Matthews band as well. His infectious laugh and personality touched us all in a sweet and sincere way. He was last employed with Wal-Mart Distribution, in Johnstown. Jake, we are going to miss you. We love you. His funeral service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 12:00 Noon, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer. Our special family and friends may attend the calling hour from 11:00 a.m. until Noon, followed by procession to Oak Hill Cemetery, in Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest in the plot next to his grandparents. We would like to thank all for their support and efforts. The tremendous care and compassion are heartfelt and appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Harry J. & Kevin E.
