![]() West Street - Ilion, NY - Home of the Michael A. Giblin Family. William Giblin, son of Michael Giblin, was ONE LUCKY ILION IRISHMAN!. Here are the newspaper accounts of the amazing and heroic rescue of Ilion's William Giblin during a famous 1912 NYC fire. At the annual meeting of the Alumni Association held in 1891, the first steps were taken toward the establishment of a public library. In the same year, Mr. Clarence W. Seamans purchased the land for this library from Michael A. Giblin. On October 27, 1893, the new library was opened and Mr. Seamans formally deeded the land and building to the Ilion Alumni Association, who in turn transferred the entire property to the Village of Ilion. The Giblin home is now the site of the current Knights of Columbus building which was built in 1969. The Dr. Jeffrey Seymour Scholarship Fund - St. Patrick's Day Dinner is held annually at the Ilion Knights of Columbus. This year it is scheduled for Sat. March 13th. |
