The Ilion Central School Coat of Arms has adorned the cover of many Ilion Graduation notices, letterheads, seven yearbook covers and other publications. The image was created by Gary Conover and Dan McGrath, members of the Class of 1964. The school drawing, done by Dan McGrath, featured Eliphalet Remington in the center. It closely resembles the 1916 Remington Centennial Statue. Remington also appears as the Village of Ilion seal.
The year 2016 marks the 200th year of the founding of Remington name as America's oldest gun manufacturer. The Ilion Days Committee selected the theme for the 2016 celebration to honor the Remington Company, its place in Ilion's history and its huge contribution to the defense of our country and the advancement of innovation around the globe.
Do you know the story of the Remington Centennial Trophy? Would you like to be part of the effort to "Bring Eliphalet Home"? If so, take some time to learn about the Remington Centennial Trophy and how with your help, today's scanning technology, and some good-old Mohawk Valley ingenuity, the trophy could be returned to the Village of Ilion.
