"Dr. Edgar J. Fisher, chairman of the committee which made the award stated that young Schulz seems to be an all-around boy. In 1949, Warren began reporting on his travels for the Ilion Sentinel. He hitch-hiked across the United States in five weeks. "In order that Sentinel readers may make the trip with Warren while sitting in their easy chairs, we arranged for him to write a series of five weekly dispatches which he will air mail to us in time for publication each week."

Warren Schulz - Author

In 1977, Warren published a history of Ilion - "Ilion-The Town Remington Made". The book contained a history of the Village of Ilion and its relationship to the Remington family. It also contained an extensive history of the school district, in Chapter 12, A Dillar, A Dollar. There is one mistake in the book on page 166. He wrote that the high school "... was rebuilt as the Burton Seymour School, named for a fireman who gave his life in the blaze." Although there was support among many to name the school after the fireman, instead, the Ilion School Board named the high school auditorium, The Burton Seymour Auditorium. The high school remained named Ilion High School.

Warren's 1977 book, "Ilion-The Town Remington Made" is out of print. There are copies available online through Amazon.com. It is being sold on Amazon, as a used book, for more than $140.

The book can be obtained through the Mid-York Library System. The Frankfort Library has a copy that can be circulated. The Ilion Library does not circulate its three copies.
