1980 Michael CunninghamScreenwriter and Producer - The Christmas LetterMichael Cunningham, an Ilion High School 1980 graduate, has written and produced a movie - The Christmas Letter. Michael is the son of Ilion History Teacher, Francis Cunningham and Marie Cunningham, Elementary teacher. Michael was interviewed by WKTV, on January 4, 2024. "I always had this dream of filming in my own Catholic school, so that's going to happen," said Screenwriter and Producer Cunningham. "This is remarkable that we are in this position and to bring it to the Mohawk Valley and Utica." Chevy Chase is confirmed to have a role in the film. Randy Quaid is joining his former co-star, Chase, in the film. Quaid co-starred with Chase in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". The movie will be filmed in Utica from January to March 2024. It is marketed as a family comedy. A release date has not yet been announced. "The Christmas Letter" is being directed by Tori Hunter The Christmas Letter Movie on Facebook. Look for a casting call for people in formal wear to serve as extras in the movie.. Utica's Film Commissioner, Paul Buckley, is getting many emails from technicians and actors that want to be in the movie. Mike has proposed, to the Ilion Annunciation parish, the possibility of having a 100th anniversary party commemorating the year the school was built in 1925. This would also serve as a reunion for all the former students and teachers.
