Phyllis Sarah Miner IHS 1922, age 98, of Hudson, passed away Saturday, June 1,2002 at her residence. She was born on April 4, 1904 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Mathilda (Peck) Miner. She was a graduate of Ilion High School class of 1922 and a graduate of Syracuse University class of 1926 with a bachelor's degree in music with piano major. Miss Miner was a music educator for 33 years at the former New York State Training School, Hudson, retiring in 1967. For six years prior to the NYS Training School she taught at the Drew Seminary, Carmel. She is survived by her cousins, Jeanette Geist of California, Marilyn Allaire of Bristol, Conn., Shirley DuBay of Weston, Vt., Jeremy Gloo of Cape Cod, Mass., Walter Highland of Stoneridge, Thomas Hyla, Raymond and Alice Frezza, all of Little Falls, as well as many other cousins. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 1 p.m. at Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls. There are no calling. (June 7, 2002)


Leila Roberts Russell IHS 1922, Ilion High school nurse, formerly of Ilion, died in Fresno California on Sept. 21, 1990 after a brief illness. She was 86. Mrs. Russell, a registered nurse and a graduate of Crouse Irving memorial Hospital in Syracuse, retired several years ago as school nurse for the Ilion Central High school. She resided, during most of her life, in Ilion and moved to Fresno California in 1988. She was married to Benjamin A. Russell Jr. who died in 1955. Mrs. Russell is survived by a daughter Jane Russell Nile of San Diego, California, a daughter Margaret Russell Daly of Marlboro, Mass., and a son, attorney, Benjamin Russell, of Constantia. Her surviving grandchildren include Lynn Nile, Fresno, California, Peggy Nile Albrecht, Soquel, California, Janie Nile, San Jose, California, James Daly Framingham, Mass., David Daly, Upton Mass., Scott Russell and David Russell, Constantia, Leila Sampson Framingham Mass. Mrs. Russell also had four great grandchildren. On Sunday Sept. 23, a memorial service was held at the Northwest Church in Fresno California. A memorial service, in Ilion, will be held at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church on Saturday Oct. 20, 1990. Interment will be in Ilion cemetery under the direction of the whiter Hendrix funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Leila Russell may be directed to the Northwest Church Organ fund 5415 Northwest Avenue, Fresno, California 93711, or to St. Augustine's Episcopal Church second Street Ilion by 13357, co father George Green.
