Richard Adams, Ilion Student, Dead at 20 The Utica Daily Press Monday, August 24, 1964 Richard N. Adams, 20, of 7O Richfield St., summer director of Ilion Village playgrounds, died yesterday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, from complications following surgery. He was born in Herkimer, a son of Ralph L. and Elizabeth (Betty) Nelson Adams. He lived in Ilion most of his life and graduated from the Ilion Central High School in 1962. While in high school, he was a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, the school band, golf, wrestling, track and football teams. Adams was a junior at State University College of Cortland where he was secretary-treasurer of the Beta Chi Epsilon Fraternity, a member of the executive committee of the Athletic Association and the InterFraternal Council. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and Roosevelt Chapter, DeMolay. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Ralph L. Adams Jr., Ilion. The funeral will be at 1:30 Wednesday from the Applegate Funeral Home with Rev. Carlton G. VanOrnum pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today and tomorrow.
