(Each location will yield proof you've been there) 3A - The Rally will take you around Ilion to places classmates most frequented 20 years ago. 4 - Each car will be timed from the starting point to the finish line at a unknown location where all will meet for munchies, cash bar, music, memories, and laughs. 5 - A Grand Prize will be awarded to the lst Team back with evidence of having hit all locations. 6 - Bring a yearbook if you can; it will help you with clues along the way. For those who really can't make the Rally, but want to come to the informal get-together, all you have to do is Call (315-866-4933) October 7th AFTER 7 pm for a pre-recorded message which will tell you where to meet. Remember, the get-together is the same as the finish line.
Welcome to the Class of '74, Road Trip Down Memory Lane. Enclosed are the clues, which will lead you to the final party site. For each numbered direction, look for 'key' words, to 'clue' you into your whereabouts. It helps if you've brought your Yearbook or really know your classmates. The key words indicate landmarks, advertising signs, street names and/or the turns you must make. It helps to read future clues, so that you are prepared to make the upcoming turns. If you get totally lost and give up, call 866-4933, after 8 p.m., for a recording of the final destination.
Along the route, look for gold bows. These bow pickup sites will be indicated by the '*'symbol, in the body of the enclosed clue list. These bows designate points where you must stop and pick up an item. Since the pickups indicate that you've really followed the route, you will be scored on the number of successful pickups. Yes .... this is just like high school! The first team back, with the most pickups, in the shortest time, wins. Please keep your pickups in the order that you find them. This will help us, when we tally the scores.
As you are clocked out, open your envelope and begin your trip down memory lane. Have some flashbacks, forget the overdue mortgage, layoff, custody battles, divorce, IRS, middle age spread and lack of health insurance. Tune your radio to an oldies station and get out your flashlights.
Enter 1974, when the average yearly income was $13,869, a new home cost $34,900 and a new car could be purchased for $3,756. The Class of 1954 was holding its 20th Reunion. Richard Nixon, as President signed the 55 MPH speed limit bill. Hank Aaron hit his 715th home run, beating Ruth's record. The average life expectancy was 72.0 years and in 1994, you are more than half way there.
