The class of 2001 would like to dedicate this year's yearbook to the memory of Mrs. Mary McLean. In 1995, the loving wife, mother, and teacher was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease. She tackled this disease with determination and fortitude. Unfortunately, after a long, courageous struggle, Mrs. Mary McLean passed away in June of 1999. Mrs. McLean was a very well respected mathematics teacher at Ilion High School for 19 years. During her 19 years of teaching, she touched the hearts of many staff and students. We will always remember Mrs. McLean as a friendly and strong woman.

In honor of Mrs. McLean, her fellow colleagues and students wanted to do something special to keep her memory alive in our hearts. They established a 5k run/ walk and they called this Mary's Run, in her honor. Over 500 walkers and runners participated in the first year of the race. Out of the 500 people, over 100 teachers and students contributed to the cause. This run is a time to get together and remember Mary McLean and her life.
