Married At Ilion

Wedding of Dr. Lucian Hebert Shepherd and Miss Lillian L. Richardson

A special from Ilion says; The social event of the season, in fact the leading social event for several seasons, was the brilliant wedding which tool place at the home of Mr. and Mrs Thomas Richardson, on West Main Street,this evening,when their youngest daughter, Lillian Louise, was united in marriage to Dr. Lucian Herbert Shepherd of Oswego. The ceremony was performed in the library by Rev. T. B. Shepherd of Milletto, N. Y., father of the groom, who used the impressive Episcopal service. The bridal party came down stairs and entered the front parlor to the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding inarch, which was rendered by Rath's full orchestra of Utica, stationed behind a screen of palms in the hall on the second floor. The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of ivory white satin and duchess point lace, and carried a large bouquet of pink rosebuds. She was accompanied by her father and attended by her maid of honor, Miss Margaret D. Tourbert, who wore a handsome dress of white liberty silk over pinK taffeta. Little Elizabeth Richardson,niece of the bride, acted as flower girl. She was daintily attired in white mull over a pink silk slip. The ushers were Harry Wadsworth of Binghamton and L. H. Hunter of Oswego. They passed thro an aisle made by white ribbons suspended from silver pedestals, and were met at the altar by the groom and his best man, Harry Cooper, of Oswego. During the ceremony the orchestra rendered Bach-Gounod "Ave Marie." Arleigh D. Richardson, brother of the bride, was master of ceremonies. After the ceremony the newly married couple received the congratulations of the large number of friends and relatives who were present. Then followed an elaborate wedding supper, served by Teal of Rochester, in the dining room, sitting room and on the broad verandas, which had been inclosed by awnings and brilliantly lighted. The house decorations, which were in charge of Hakes Son, were exquisite, pink and white predominating these being the colors chosen by the bride, and roses and carnations were used in profusion.

Guests From Oswego.

The wedding gifts, which included many rare pieces of china, cut glass, silver, bride-a-brac and a choice collection of bookS, which attested to the high literary taste of the bride, were exhibited in one of the front rooms on the second floor. The bride also received several useful pieces of furniture, a Steinway piano and several clocks for handsome amounts.

The gifts of the bride to her maid of honor was a pearl pendant, and the groom's gifts to his best man and ushers were pearl scarf-pins.

The bridal party left on the 10:23 train for an extended Northern trip. Among the guests from out of town were: Dn Jennie Richardson of New York, sister of the bride; Rev. and Mrs. T. H. Shepherd, Milletto, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Shepherd, Oswego; Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Joy, Ogdensburg; Rev. George B. Shepherd, Deanslboro; Miss Gertrude Shepherd, Oswego; Harry Wadsworth, Binghamton; Harry Cooper, L. B. Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. F A. Emrick, Oswego; Mrs. Charles Durland, Elmira; Mrs. Edward Davis Jones; New York; Miss Helen Pierce, Albany, Miss Edith Ward, Orange, N. J., Mrs. Wilcox, Central Square; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stone, Oneida; William Giblin, New York; Mr. and Mrs. LaMott Thomson Utica; Mr.and Mrs. R. F. Steele, Judge and Mrs. I. R. Devendorf, Herkimer; Mr. and Mrs. Easton, Lowville; Miss Helen Sloan, Oswego; Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Brockway, Richfield Springs.

The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Richardson of this village, and is a graduate of the Ilion Academy, class of '85; also of Vassar College. She is prominently connected with the Travelers Club and Music Club of this village, and has a large circle of friends. The groom is the youngest son of Re. and Mrs. T. B. Shepherd, who were former residents of this village. He is a graduate of Syracuse University, and is a present located in Oswego, where he has the esteem of a huge circle of friends, and is one of the rising young physicians of that city. Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd will make their future home in Oswego.
