Graduating Exercises Tuesday Evening, June 22

A Class of High Attainments

Nineteen in Number.

The interesting series of exercises incident to the graduation of the class of '98 will occur next week.

The graduating exercises of the class of '97, Ilion Academy, will be held on Tuesday evening next, at the opera house.

The class is composed of nineteen bright young gentlemen and ladies whose high attainments in scholarship reflect much credit, both upon themselves and their instructors.

An unusual feature is the fact that the gentlemen outnumber the ladies by a score of eleven to eight, the preponderance in former years having usually been in favor of the gentler sex.

Thompson's full orchestra has been engaged and will furnish the music for the occasion.

It is expected that the exercises of the evening will be fully up to the high standard attained in former years, and that the class will be greeted by an overflowing house.

The officers and members of the class are as follows;

Harry Halliwell, president;
Carrie M. Jochmus, vice-president;
Emma E. White, secretary and poet;
Charles J. Diss, treasurer;
LeRoy F. Shineman, valedictorian;
Maude H. Burch, salutatorian;
William P. Wilfert, prophet,
Etta Cox, historian,

Arnon L. Comstock,
Lena M. Keller,
Edward Baker,
Jennie Heiland,
Thomas P. Carney,
A. Catherine Nunn,
George Edick,
Frank L. Jenne,
Maude M. Gay,
Lucius J. Robson,
Wesley D. Tisdale.
