Man About Town College Halls Receive Large Ilion Contingent Fifty-two of our Brightest and Best Students Seek the Advantages of College Life - A Fine Showing Ilion High School is very proud, and with good reason, of the large number of graduates who are just now going to higher institutions of learning. Village schools are only preparatory schools; the best schooling must follow that the local schools do; the education must be gotten slowly, painfully and at great expense and loss in the hard school of experience, or lost forever, or gained in the college or technical school. Untrained, unskilled, uneducated men are at a discount everywhere. The training must be had; if not in the schools, then elsewhere at greater time, labor and expense; the man who never gets the higher training never gets above common labor. Ilion sends a large delegation of its young men and women to higher institutions this year. They are distributed as follows: Yale: Miles Morgan. Harvard: Charles Jarvis, Woodbern Remington. Cornell: Earl Avery, Edward Carney, Joseph Carney, Leon King, Fred Smith, Louis Webster. Syracuse: Howell Crim, John Gordon, Harris Beebe, Richard Giblin, Gladys King, Vera Swift, Belle Parker, Ina Hubbard, Ethel Robinson, Carrie Turnbull, Czarina Lobdell, Anna Bennett, Lulu Bargey. Hamilton: Clarence Marhaver. Edward O'Brien. Harper Swift, Rome Worden, Leon Ross, William Marriott. Princeton: Percy Edwards. Michigan Agricultural: Reese Taylor. Trinity: Sheldon Shepherd. Albany Medical: Matthew Harris. Albany Law: John Donlin. Buffalo: George Carney, Arthur Arnold. John Hopkins: Lester Taylor. Anapolis: Clinton Gordon. Albion, Mich.: Vera Swift. Ohio State: Harry Williamson, Flossie Maartens. Stevens Polytechnic: Henry Finlayson. Mt. Holyoke: Edith Bell. Smith: Erma Crim. Oberlin: Martha Yetman. Barnard: Ruth Hakes. Columbia: Marion Hakes.
