ILION The Diphtheria Situation. The situation is peculiar; there have been but few cases but a large proportion of them have been fatal; two new cases were reported Tuesday; the little daughter of Frank Horton, and Earl Ackler, who lives at South Ilion; all the cases have followed one another in natural sequence; the malady is of a malignant type. The people have a right to expect the Board of Health to protect the community; that is what a Board of Health is for; the life of children and adults is of far more importance than what anyone likes or dislikes in the enforcement of quarantine; this is a matter of life and death. In the meantime citizens should protect themselves, stay away from public gatherings and keep children at home. Violations of quarantine should be promptly reported to the Board of Health.
