Colonel Davis Assigned to New Office

ILION - Colonel John N. Davis, son of Mrs. N. Louise Davis of Old Forge Rd., Ilion, has been assigned to the First United States Army Inspector General's Section as chief of the inspections division.

He recently returned from Germany where he commanded the 1st Battle Group of the 7th Infantry Division from August 1957 to July I960. He reported to First Army on Aug. 15. Colonel Davis graduated from West Point in 1939. During World War II he participated in North African and Italian campaigns from August 1942 through October 1943.

Colonel Davis was one of 200 senior officers of the Armed Forces selected because of their broad military experience for the ten-month course given by the Army's highest educational Institution, the Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa., in 1956.

He wears the Silver Star Medal, with two oak-leaf clusters and the Bronze Star Medal with four oak-leaf clusters, as well as the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.

He graduated from Ilion High School in 1933.
