Ilion Emerges Winner Of Coveted Forensic Meet Title Ilion Girl Debaters Defeat Otsego Boys for Easter Honors Misses Singer and Casey Bring Important Victory to School in Finals of Forensic Meet Ilion - Recognition as one of the six most beautiful women in the junior class at Syracuse University is the honor bestowed on Miss Virginia E. Casey of Ilion, crowned a Junior beauty at the annual junior prom last week. The ceremony culminated a contest started early last winter by the Onondagan, campus yearbook, when more than 100 photographs were submitted. A staff committee chose the best 27 which were, in turn, sent to John LaGatta, popular New York illustrator. LaGatta selected the final 16 from which the six junior beauties were named by a campus committee, following personal interviews to determine personality and poise as well as beauty. In keeping with a traditional feature, full page photographs of the winners will appear in the Onondagan to be distributed to students May 8. Three pages will be devoted to the nine runners up. Miss Casey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Casey of 71 First Street, is majoring in public school music in the College of Fine Arts. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, University Chorus, the Women's Glee Club, Debate Team and International Relations Club.
