A Teacher Remembers

MOST OF YOU WILL RECALL incidents such as this happening to you.

I was riding a bus to work in Utica and a retired teacher, known for her vigor in the classroom and her ability to come directly to the point: 40 years ago, sat behind me, I was carrying a bundle of papers under my arm and she glanced at them and remarked so that the whole bus could hear.

"Well, I see you haven't changed in 40 years. Still lugging your homework back and forth undone." Everyone on the bus roared and even the teacher smiled at me.
