Ilion Airman's Body Due Aug. 3

Ilion - Family and friends will at Pleasant Lake meet the body of 1st Lt. William H. Momberger, 22, U. S. Armv flier, at Herkimer station Tuesday it was announced today.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Momberger, 12 N. Fifth Ave , Ilion, and died on duty in England on March 9, 1944.

Representatives of the Whiter Funeral Heme will meet the body at 3:43 p. m. and immediately transport it to Armory Hill Cemetery for burial. The Rev. Ernest B. Pugh, rector of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, will officiate.

Lieutenant Momberger was born in Ilion on Jan. 2, 1922. He had been stationed with the 8th AAF Fighter Station in England and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for unusual achievement as well as the Third Oak Cluster of the Air Medal. He was a Mustang pilot.

He graduated in 1939 from Ilion High School where he gained recognition on the football, baseball and softball teams. In January, 1940, he enlisted in the Air Corps, graduating as an air mechanic from McDill Field. He earned his wings at Moultrie Field. Go. in September, 1942 and went overseas in June, 1943. He was a member of the Order of DeMolay and the Episcopal Church. His survivors include his parents, three brothers, Paul, Allan and John; and a sister, Miss Ella Dyme, all of Ilion,
