Norman Hess Is Partner In Law Firm
Ilion - Norman Lawrence Hess has been named an associate in the law firm of Schneider and Getman, it was announced yesterday. The appointment of Hess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Hess, 20 Fourth St., is effective immediately.
Hess was born in Ilion on Sept. 17, 1923. and attended Ilion High School. He took an active part in student affairs, including school publications, public speaking, dramatics, and tennis. He also served as an officer of his class, and was graduated in 1941.
After attending Clarkson College for one year Hess entered the Navy in 1943, and served in the Pacific Theater as an aviation radioman, Naval air crewman and rear seat gunner of the Lexington. He holds the Air Medal and Presidential Citation with five stars.
Colgate Graduate
After leaving the service, Hess entered Colgate University in 1946, gaining honors in political science. However, his. school activities were varied, and included varsity football, senior speech competition, Independents Organization, Political Science Club, freshman basketball, Lambda Iota Fraternity and intramural football, basketball and baseball in addition to his studies.
After receiving his degree from Colgate, Hess attended the Cornell Law School, and passed his New York State Bar examination this year. He continued his active campus career at Cornell, serving as President of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, a Moot Cort Student Judge, and a member of the placement committee.
He married Jane Myers, West Winfield, while in the service, and they now have two boys.
