Ilion Legion Women to Hear Talk On Pan American Outlook in Cuba Ilion - Crim-Shaffer Auxiliary completed plans last night for the annual American Legion past commanders dinner Saturday and announced that Warren Schulz, 68 Benedict Ave., a Hamilton College student will speak on 'Cuba' at the Apr. 18 meeting. Schulz, who halted his law studies in December to assist his father, Albert Schulz, with Ilion Cemetery Association work, will base his talk on the Pan-American program upon views obtained during a visit to Central and South America in 1941 following his graduation from Ilion High School as valedictorian. Mrs. George Lever, meeting chairman, said Schulz will resume his studies in July as a pre-theological student. He is the son of a past commander of Crim-Shaffer post and his mother is a former Auxiliary president. Mrs. Mary McGarl, president, urged members to attend the county auxiliary meeting Saturday in Herkimer, and also announced that Mrs. Howard Teal, Americanism chairman would present a flag to the East Frankfort School on Apr. 12. Major James McDaniels, Rhoads Hospital chaplain, will be guest speaker at the past commanders dinner. Mrs. McGarl and Guy Farrington, county commander, will be introduced by Henry H. Kent, toastmaster. William Carter, general chairman, will be assisted by this dining room committee of auxiliary members: Mrs. Mary Sprague; chairman; Mrs. Laura Smithson, Mrs. Elsie Coman, Mrs. Eliza Jones, Mrs. Gertrude O'Donnell, Mrs. Lila May, Mrs. Irene Catenhusen, Mrs. Agnes McShalley and Mrs. Mary Day.
