Ilion Officer Gets Release ILION - Lt. (J. g) Sammy H. Nile, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Nile Sr., 235 S. Fourth Ave., who graduated from Annapolis Naval Academy in 1951 has been released from active duty. He plans to enter Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration at Boston. He and Mrs. Nile, the former Jane Russell, and their daughter, Lynn, are visiting their families here before moving to their new home. Mrs. Nile is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin A. Russell, Armory St. Lt. Nile graduated from Ilion High School and entered the Naval Academy in June, 1947 as the principal nominee of Congressman Clarence E. Kilburn, Malone, whose district then included Herkimer county. After graduation from the academy he was assigned to duty aboard the U.S.S. Thomas at Newport News, serving aboard the destroyer for two years and then was chosen to attend electronic school for officers at Treasurer Island, Calif. For the past two years he had served as electronics officer on the flagship of the commander, amphibious forces, Atlantic Fleet.
