Ilion Students To See Game Ilion - Robert Engells, winner of the Varsity Club trophy, and 25 members of the high school baseball and track squads will be guests of the club at the annual Shrine baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Browns at Cooperstown July 12, Arvon Jones, club president, announced today. Trackmen who will attend the game include Leo Boucher, Terry Boyle, Alvin Bluett, Jack Day, Donald Gauding, Joseph Joy, Allan Lowe, Frank Manion, George Nile, Robert Nunneker, Richard Smallwood, John Sullivan, Raymond Watson, Robert Andrews and Manager Philip Randall. The baseball players are Richard Bullis, Joseph Durkin, Donald Lang, Martin Lang, John Manion, Robert Morris, Craig Nichols, Donald Pearson, Floyd Shoemaker, Harry Staley, Alex Youda and Engells, team manager. At the same time that Engells was awarded the Varsity Club trophy, symbolic of sportsmanship, character and good conduct, Howard Harrig received the Rocky Cramer Memorial Trophy, awarded each year to a senior who has earned at least one varsity letter, maintained satisfactory academic standing and shown natural leadership ability. Jones presented the Varsity Club award, and the Cramer trophy was presented by J. Guy Prindle, principal of the high school.
