Honors Pile On Ilion Student Ilion - Carl W. Peterson Jr., valedictorian of this year's Ilion High School graduating class, has added the Reader's Digest Association's annual award to his growing list of honors, according to an announcement made yesterday by John G. Prindle, principal. The honor student, son of County Judge and Surrogate Carl W. Peterson and Mrs. Peterson, 334 E. Main St., placed ninth in the nation in the 23rd examination sponsored by the American Association for the United Nations, Inc., and has been offered at least three college scholarships, including $200 grants from Boston University and Northeastern University and a $300 award from Carelton College. The latest award, consisting of a Reader's Digest subscription and an engraved certificate, is reserved for pupils who give promise of becoming community leaders. Peterson, who intends to become a lawyer, will enter Hamilton College in the fall.
