Ilion Woman To Receive Merit Award - Mrs. Jane Nile

Mrs. Jane R. Nile, of 8 Armory St., Ilion, has been selected to receive the 1976 Alumni Merit Award from Mohawk Valley Community College.

Mrs. Nile, a 1969 graduate of MVCC Nursing Department, will receive the award during the college's 34th Commencement May 30 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Mrs Nile was chosen from a group of nominees based on "meritorious utilization of talent and education in a manner most exemplary of the philosophy of the State University of New York; 'Let Each Become All He Is Capable of Being.'"

At the time of her graduation with high honors, Mrs. Nile was named MVCC's Outstanding Nursing Graduate for 1969.

She also holds a B.S. degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the Syracuse University School of Nursing, and an M.S. in Nursing from the same institution. She is a 1950 graduate of Ilion High School.

Mrs. Nile is on the faculty of Hartwick College, Oneonta, teaching maternal and child health nursing. She has also been employed as a staff nurse at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, and as a supervisor-administrator at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, both in Ilion. In 1974, she received a federal nursing scholarship.
