Mrs. Dimock's Work

We sincerely hope that the Ilion Village Board will see fit to provide Mrs. Richard Dimock, village historian, with sufficient funds to carry out her duties.

Mrs. Dimock has asked for $200 to carry on the work for a year and certainly no $200 will be better spent in Ilion.

Mrs. Dimock, as able, intelligent and interested as any historian Ilion ever had, has been praised time and again by Albert B. Corey, State Historian and director of the Division of Archives and History.

Only recently, Dr. Corey wrote to this newspaper that "Mrs. Dimock has a most important job to perform in serving Ilion. Among her many duties there is included the job of collecting and preserving historical material of all types to say nothing of the benefits derived from the 7th and 8th grade students who have been studying the history of Ilion."

Ilion is steeped in national and local history, much of which will become legend and eventually forgotten if someone doesn't get to work recording it. An increased interest in Ilion's history will result in a heightened appreciation of the [community in which we live.

We are certain the Village Board will see the wisdom of this $200 investment.
