Block I Dinner At Ilion Elks Club Tuesday Ilion - Arvon Jones, secretary of the Ilion Varsity Club, announced yesterday that tickets still are available for Tuesday night's Block I banquet in the Elks Club for Ilion High School lettermen. The banquet, sponsored by the Varsity Club, will honor 43 football, baseball, basketball and track letter-winners as well as cheerleaders and members of the coaching staff. The speaker will be Alva E. Kelley, former end coach at Cornell University, who recently shifted to the post of varsity line coach at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. An outstanding lineman at Cornell in 1938-39-40. Kelley was graduated in 1941 with honors in administrative engineering. He was an ordnance officer during the war and worked under head coach Herman Hickman of Yale as a member of the Army All-Star team in 1942. He joined the coaching staff at his alma mater in 1946. Expected to attend the banquet are Mr. and Mrs. Gorge T. Bruska, Mohawk. Their son, Walter Bruska, Kelley's successor at Cornell and an outstanding end on the Big Red varsity for the past three seasons, is scheduled to accompany the speaker to Ilion.
