Award Time At Ilion High School Last Thursday night was trophy night at Ilion High school when over 75 Ilion High athletes and cheerleaders were awarded letters and awards. Toastmaster for the occasion was Harold Walrath who was one of the first to receive an award sweater at Ilion for his play with the championship teams of the late twenties. The principal speaker of the evening was Head Football Coach Eddie Tryon of Hobart College who told the boys of the importance of the will to win and the best way to gain that will. The pictures above show two of the award winners receiving their letters. Fran Capes is the girl receiving her cheerleading letter from Mrs. Ruth Derby while Miss Jean Henry looks on. In the other shot, Captain Jim Wheat, of Ilion's championship track team receives his letter from Coach Art Coons. Wheat, a senior, also won bars to his basketball and football letters and an award in football.
