Tryon Speaks at Ilion Dinner, Awards Presented ILION - Speaking on "Success in Sports," Edward Tryon, head football coach at Hobart College, last night addressed more than 200 students, parents and faculty members at the fourth annual Block I Dinner. Sponsored by the Parent Teachers Association, the affair also featured presentation of awards. Mrs. Ruth Derby presented awards to cheerleaders, Frances Capes, Jo Ann Earl, Barbara Garlock, Sally Paul, Marjorie Thompson, Marilyn Thompson and Doreen Pelletier. Table tennis awards went to Don Young, Wayne Mumford, Jan Momberger, Lawrence Paul; bowling certificates to Richard Hall, Mervyn Covell, Dawes Dunham, Roger Smithson, Charles Wood, James Fitch, Andrew Rasmussen, Kenneth Gonyea. Football Awards Given Football certificates went to Don Ahern, Gerald Birr, David Bouck, Peter Boyle, Lawrence DelGrego. Robert Deming, Collins Kamp, John Kennedy, Sam Leonis, Robert Meade, William Murphy, Michael Palmer, Thfomas Pavliga, William Steele, James Wheat, William Williams, Ralph Abeling, Charles Noll, James Fennell. Baseball certificates went to Dale Connors, Robert Mauley, William Steele, Robert Deming, Don Ahern, Sam Leonis, James Duffy, John Cooper, William Murphy, John Bowers and Michael Letts. Anthony Maneen, physical education teacher in East and West Frankfort schools, presented track certificates to James Wheat, Robert Meade, Thomas Pavliga, David Hecox, Larry Thibault, Ralph Abeling, David Bouck, Gerald Birr, Bradford Bosquet, Alfred Costello, Lawrence DelGrego, Noel Williams, Gordon Dennison, Lawrence Paul, William Williams, Earl Tibbits, Robert Donahue, Richard Lewis, James Young, Edward Kibbe. Badminton awards went to Richard Hall, Mervyn Covell, Dawes Dunham, Roger Smithson, Charles Wood, James Fitch, Andrew Rasmussen, Kenneth Gonyea; volleyball certificates to David Hecox, Thomas Pavliga, John Remmel, William Whiter, Peter Boyle and Noel Williams. Gerald Whiter, assistant coach, who will not be back at Ilion High in the Fall, was introduced by Joseph Sorge and thanked for his cooperation.
