Names Of Award Winners Listed By Ilion, Frankfort High Schools Valley high school athletes and cheerleaders received or will receive hard earned awards this week, as the schools swing into the final weeks of the school year. Frankfort High awarded letters or shingles to their athletes in a special May Day ceremony at the high school last weekend. The Ilionites will receive theirs at the annual Block I dinner tonight in the School cafeteria. Head Football Coach at Hobart, Eddie Tryon will be the principal speaker at this occasion. The awarding of Block I letters for baseball, tennis, band, track, and skiing was approved at a recent meeting of the Ilion High School Senate. The names of those eligible for letters were presented at a meeting of the Senate held May 25 with Dick, Coupe, president presiding. TRACK Receiving letters for track are Jim Wheat, captain of the team, Tom Pavliga, Bob Meade, Dave Hecox, Larry Thibault, Ralph Abeling, Dave Bouck, Jerry Birr, Brad Bosquet, Bud Costello, Babe DelGrego, Noel Williams, Gordie Denison. Larry Paul, Herk Williams, Ed Tibbits, and Bob Donahue, manager of the team. BASEBALL Baseball letter winners are Dale Connors, Bob Manley, Dinny Steele, Bob Deming, Pete Boyle, Don Ahern, Sam Leonis, Jim Duffy, John Cooper, Jack Bowers, and Shade Murphy, Mike Tetts, Mgr. BAND Band letters will be awarded to Florence Grizzuto, June Rae Baker Malcolm Gienke. Janet Hannahs, Ernest Eberle. Charlie Thibault, Glen Drake, Patte Mason, Dave Pelkco, Ed Kibbe, and Mary Ellen Hardy. Dick Hall, John Remmell, Chuck Wood, Bill Whiter, Barry Wilson, and Curtis Gilbert will be awarded tennis letters. Barry Wilson will receive the only skiing letter to be given. Bill Murphy, chairman of the sports committee, gave a report of letter recommendations. The Senate, which is advised by Mr. Richard Everhart, decided to award 8 inch letters instead of 7 inch letters for minor league sports. The six major sports track, baseball, basketball, football, wrestling and cross country will receive 10 inch letters. Letters awarded for the fall and winter sports are as follows: FOOTBALL - Jim Wheat, Tom Pavliga, Bob Meade, Ralph Abeling, Dave Bouck, Jerry Birr, Babe DelGrego, Herk Williams, Dinny Steele, Bob Deming, Pete Boyle, Dan Ahern. Sam Leonis, Bill (Shade) Murphy, John Kennedy, and Mike Palmer. VOLLEYBALL - Noel Williams, Dave Hecox, Pete Boyle, Herk Williams, Tom Pavliga, Bill Whiter, Charley Contey, Bob Housekhecht, and John Remmell. BASKETBALL - Jim Wheat, Dale Connors, Bob Bergin, Don Ahern. Dinny Steele, Bob Deming, Bill Murphy, and Dave Bouck. CHEERLEADERS - Marjorie and Marilyn Thompson, Doreen Pelletier, Frances Capes, Barbara Oarlock, Sally Paul, JoAnn Earle.
