Ilion High Music Students To Offer Two-Act Operetta Later This Month

Ilion - The complete cast for the coming Gilbert and Sullivan operetta "H.M.S. Pinafore" was announced today by Arthur Dauten, Vocal Teacher in the Ilion School Music Department.

Over 50 voices will be heard in this rousing musical, one of the better ones in the great repertoire of the two music masters.

Sylvia Leistyna, Sally Harter, Marjorie Mead, Guy Garski, Edward Kibbie, James Manion, Charles Matteson and Barry Wilson have leading roles in the satirical story of the British Navy in the days of Disraeli.

Brilliant costumes, and beautiful scenery are to be features of this production which will be presented by members of the Orpheus Club on May 21 and 22 in the High School Auditorium.

Nancy Adams, Dorothy Ayres, Barbara Fager, June Rae Baker, Katy Bishop, Mary Capes, Judy Currier, Beverly Hool, Nancy Jones, Lucille Joy, Barbara Kennell, Sally Kerr, Ardis Klippell, Noralie Lyons, Carole Markley, Lois McKelvie are members of the chorus.

Other members of the cast include: Barbara Morton Theresa Naleczny, Phyllis O'Shea, Shirley Rasmussen, Sarah Rogers, Lorraine Seymour, Carole Short, Patricia Stillwell, Carol Thierfelder, Patricia Tillinghast and Kay Wheat.

Edward Bowers, William DAck, Lawrence DelGrego, Robert Donohue, Malcolm Gienke, Edward Kennell, Joseph Kennel, Michael Letts, Donald Loopan, David Mead, David Menard, Jon Momberger, Paul Montalone, Curt Preshe, Eugene Stafford and Richard Wilson complete the cast.

Ruth McKelvie is Student Director with Curt Gilbert as Student accompanist. Mrs. Jane Roberts will be the accompanist on production night. Robert Donohue is serving as publicity man.

Tickets are now available from members of the Orpheus Club, and also on sale at the Mohawk Valley Music Sales on First Street.

This is one of the biggest productions ever undertaken by the Ilion High Music Department, and should be one that will hold the audience enthralled throughout.
