Ilion High Informative - By "Spook" Preischs

Ilion's Bomber's came home last Friday with a win over Mohawk (57-56). This win makes Ilion the only team in Iroquois league play to have an undefeated season.

Ilion will enter the Sectional tonight at New Hartford playing Canastota. As toe Section III Tournament gets under way, the Golden Boys of Ilion, under Joseph Sorge, are going to try to retain the Section III title and trophy they won last year.

The past few days, Thursday, Friday and this morning, the students have been urged to read more by their English teachers because the Notional Senior Honor Society hod put on a Book Fair. Many students have signed up for many different kinds of books, for example, classics, history, science, religion, war, communism, mysteries, joker books and many, many other educational books. On Thursday and Friday, first periods, the Fair was opened to Seniors while during the lunch hours, 5A and 5B, the Fair was opened to underclassmen, and after school for everybody. English teachers went down to the Fair with their classes during each period. Saturday morning was dedicated to the adults from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Let's get out the books and read, read, read.

Gisela (Glgi) Schroeder, Ilion's foreign exchange student from Germany, has formed a German club. The club plans to meet every Monday night after school. The German club has about a dozen members trying to learn Gigi's native language.

The fencing team of Ilion will have tried to extend their wins to three in a row if the defeat upon New York Mills is successful.

The National Merit Qualifying Test, which takes three hours, was taken by the juniors this morning. Yesterday, the rest of the juniors signed up for the exam.

The annual Latin dinner will be held next Thursday night in the High School Home Economics room. The dinner will be supervised by Mrs. Anae DeRues, Latin teacher, and students Peggy Wright and Leuranne Cox. The traditional costumes will be worn.

On behalf of the student body and faculty, I wish Mr. Grygiel, our American History teacher, a speedy recovery.

This has been a quiet week for Ilion, a change of pace from the usual "hum-drum" of Ilion's corridors.

If he is willing and my pen doesn't leak, I'll see you next week.

School spirit? Did someone mention school spirit? What's that? Ilion High School used to have some of that 'stuff', but it doesn't anymore.
