Snedeker No. 1 At IHS

ILION - Guy J. Snedeker and Deborah Kubala today were named valedictorian and salutatorian of the class of 1972 at Ilion Central High School.

The valedictorian is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy V. Snedeker of 322 East Main St., and Miss Kubala is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marian Kubala of 154 South Fourth Ave.

Announcement was made by Supt. of Schools James Dunn at an honors assembly.

Snedeker compiled an amazing 97.484 average during his high school career, during which time he was active in the National Honor Society, Drama Club, Chorus, Library Club, Editor of the Literary Magazine "Patterns", and Boy's State. He was also a Regent Scholarship winner, finishing first in the county and tied for sixth in the state, and was a National Merit Scholarship finalist. He plans to attend St. John's College in Annapolis, Md.

Debbie ran a close second in scholastic achievement, posting an excellent 97.250 during her four years. At the same time she took part in the National Honor Society, Girl's Athletic Council, JV cheerleading, volleyball, tennis, Latin Club, Band, and Drama Club.

She was also a Regents Scholarship winner and a letter winner in the National Merit Scholarship competition. Debbie plans to attend the University of Rochester.
