8 Awards For Guy Snedeker

Guy Snedeker, 1972 valedictorian at Ilion High School, was presented with eight special awards this week at the annual awards assembly.

Snedeker's awards included the Earl Perry Watkins Memorial Prize of $25 for the valedictorian; the Loretta O Douglas Award given by the Ilion Alumni Association for outstanding work in the field of English $50; co-recipient of the Speech Arts School prize $10.

Also the Cornelia Nagle Memorial Prize given by Mrs Abram Zollar $5 (four year award for history); Savings Bond given by the Marine Midland Bank (four year math award); the John Guy Prindle Memorial Prize in Science, first prize of $10; the Math-Science Eight Units Award, first prize of $10, the Rensselaer Math Science Medal.

Salutatorian Deborah Kubala walked off with four prizes which included the school prize for salutatorian $20, the Math-Science Eight Units Award, second prize of $10, the John Guy Prindle Memorial Prize in Science, second prize of $5. and the World History 10th Year Award given by Miss Barbara Schwartz in memory of her mother, Mrs. Anna Schwartz $5.

The other award winners were:

Darlene Doolen - the American History Award $10; the French Four Year Award of $10; and the St. Augustine's Guild of St. Augustine's Church Award $10.

Sarah Getman - Publications Award $20 and the American History 12th Year Award $5.

Norman Johnson - the English Term Paper Prize $25, and the Ilion Fish and Game Club Award.

Laurel Long - the English Award for Progress and Good Citizenship $10, and the Claire Foisy Memorial Prize $15.

JoAnne Miller - co-recipient of the Speech Arts School Prize $10.

Lawrence Manion - Spanish Four Year Award $10.

Penny Jones - Proficiency in Secretarial Practice Award and Medal from the Powellson Institute $10.

Linda Sternberg - Office Practice and Typing Award $25.

John Long - Art Three Year Award $10.

Ronald Wilson, Joseph DeRocco, Marie Palmatier, Colleen Block - VFW Post 502 prizes for out for progress, $10 each.

Steven Winslow, Betty Reynolds - VFW Auxiliary Post 502 prizes for outstanding progress through school career, $10 each.

William Falzareno, Barbara Lester - Police Benevolent Assn. Awards for progress through school career, $10 each.

Neil Thompson - Burton T. Seymour Memorial prize for service, given by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eysaman $25; Music Award by Ilion High Music Dept, to member Senior Class, $25.

James Irving - Mid-York Racom Club, special service, $25

Mary Kenealy - Zonta Club of Herkimer $10.

Susan Garnsey - Women of Moose for nurses training, $10.

Robert Strife - B'nai B'rith Lodge, $10 Citizenship Prize.

Doug Campbell - Industrial Arts and Vocational Shop award, $10.

Linda Bouton - Practical Nursing Award by Paul and Addie March in memorial of Shirley and Carl Doxtader, $10

Charles Venditte, Mark Sobolewski, Nicholas Korba - Key Club Special Service Awards $25 each.

Shirley McConnell - Clerical Award $10.

Megan Williams - Priscilla Burnham Memorial Prize, outstanding work in piano, $10.

John Sorge - Mechanical Drawing Prize, $10.

Lawrence Manion - William and Nettie Parker prize, music and or science.

Kenneth Brink - Northside Athletic Club Award $10.

Marie Palmatier - Northside Athletic Club award $10.

Senior Assembly Awards were:

Moose Club (Dale Johnson) Baseball Award - Steven McGrath;
Leo Golicki Award - James Miller;
Rocky Cramer Award - Ronald Wilson;
Varsity Club Award - James Miller;
Lever Cup - Steve McGrath;
Lewis Wrestling Award - Ronald Wilson.

K of C. Athletic Award - Richard Gardinier;
Outstanding Senior Girl Athlete - Katheleen Callister.

Priscilla Burnham Trophy - Cynthia Matteson;
Girls Senior Service Award - Kathleen Callister;
