Two IHS Juniors In AFS Program Two Ilion High School juniors have been selected as Americans Abroad candidates by the American Field Service. Walter O'Connor, Americans Abroad coordinator for Ilion AFS chapter, said today Kathy Morris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Morris of 396 Otsego St. has been designated a guaranteed participant, and Karen Gollegly, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Frank Gollegly of Kenilworth Park, is a finalist. O'Connor explained that a guaranteed participant is assured of placement in an overseas family, while the finalist will be placed if a host family, appropriate to the candidate, is available. Americans Abroad students spend a summer living with a host family and studying in schools in one of 58 participating countries. Announcement of host countries will be made in the spring. The Ilion AFS chapter is currently hosting Brigitte Obrecht of Switzerland, who is living with the Rev. and Mrs. Maurice Mitchell of 216 S. Fourth Ave. while she attends Ilion High School.
