Kathleen Morris, Philip Anderson - Ilion Top Teens ILION - Philip Anderson and Kathleen Morris were named the Ilion Jaycees and Jayncees Outstanding Teenage Young Man and Woman during ceremonies at the high school last night. Anderson is the son of Dr. and Mrs James Anderson. Brook St., and Miss Morris is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Morris. 396 Otsego St. Anderson is a regents scholarship winner, member of the National Honor Society, and was a Boy's State Representative in 1973. He is a member of the varsity basketball team, varsity track team and the Utica Pacemakers Running Club. Active in community activities, he has participated in the Kim Torbitt Drive, Ilion Clean-up Drives, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Drive, and belongs to the Friends of Ilion Public Library. He was awarded a certificate, a $25 bond and a plaque. He is now eligible to participate in the Herkimer County competition, and if successful, could go on to division and state competitions. Miss Morris is a regent's scholarship winner, recipient of a National Merit Letter of Commendation, and first place winner in the American Legion Oratorical Contest on the local and county levels. She won second place in the Elk's Youth Leadership Contest and was the A.F.S. Exchange Student to France last summer. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was a representative to the Cogar Foundation Forum on the "Quality of Life." Vice-president of the Senior Class, she is also president of the French Club, member of the A.F.S Selection Committee. Mixed Choir, Orchestra and Girls Athletic Association. Miss Morris is active in the community, participating in several charity drives. She made monthly visits to Rome State School, has been a volunteer counselor at the Association for Retarded Children's Day Camp, been on the YMCA Advisory Council, and participated in Ilion's "Hot Line" program. She received a certificate, $25 bond, and an engraved charm bracelet.
