Plans Complete For Ilion Winter Carnival

Ilion - The Ilion High School student council, working with the Ilion Jaycees, have completed plans for the 1974 winter carnival.

The winter carnival will be Jan. 30 and 31 and Feb. 1 and 2. It will begin Jan 30 with a basketball game between the Ilion Jaycees and the school faculty.

Jan. 31 there will be a wrestling match between Ilion High School and Herkimer High. During the match, announcement will be made of the carnival queen and her court.

Feb. 1, there will be a basketball game between Ilion High School and Johnstown. Between the junior varsity and varsity games, the Jaycees and Jayncees will announce the winners of the Outstanding Teenage Young Man and Young Women projects. Also Friday, the snow sculptures will be judged.

On Feb. 2, there will be toboganing. skiing and skating races for children up to 12 years old in the morning, with adults and other organizations of the village urged to participate in the races also.

A hockey game between Ilion Youth Hockey and Cooperstown and a broomball game between various high school classes will be held in the afternoon.

The weekend festivities will conclude with a wrestling match between Ilion and Whitesboro and the winter carnival dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.

General chairman from the student council is Nancy Morris and for the Jaycees, Jerry Bourgois.
