Five Awarded Cogar Grants

The Cogar Foundation today announced the awarding of fives scholarships for college study, available to graduates of Herkimer County high schools and providing $1,000 per year for a maximum of four years. Recipients were Alane M Brown, Cold Brook who will study journalism at State University Agricultural and Technical College at Morrisville. She plans to transfer from there to SUNY at Oswego; Aileen Carney, 12 Crescent St., Ilion, who will study political science at SUNY at Albany; Patricia Diliberto, First Avenue Extension, Frankfort, planning to study physical therapy at Russell Sage College in Troy; Peter A. Gloo, 5 Hammond St. Mohawk, planning to study languages at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass and Martha Hill, Poland, RD1, planning to study elementary education at SUNY at Potsdam. Candidates were selected on the basis of their scholastic record, academic promise, leadership ability and community and school service activities. Financial need was also a consideration. Recipients were selected by a scholarship committee appointed by the Trustees of the Cogar Foundation Committee members were David Mahoney, Little Falls; David Colburn and Karen Rogers, both of Herkimer; Jane Spellman and Richard Dailey, of Ilion and Betty Thompson, of Mohawk.
