![]() Robert G. Baker - IHS 1919 - PharmacistRobert Baker was born October 8, 1901, the son of Robert Isaac and Kate M. Barse Baker. He attended the University of Buffalo in 1922. He graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy, in 1924, along with three other Ilionites: Richard T. Byrnes, Robert Mulvey and William Mulvey. ![]() Robert G. Baker Robert Baker married Mildred Jenne, in Ilion, in 1925. 'Bob' Baker was a lifelong resident of Ilion. Prior to opening his own pharmacy, he was a representative for several pharmaceutical companies. He open his own pharmacy in 1943. The Baker's Pharmacy, was located in the Ogden Block on First and Otsego Streets. It was advertised as "Successors to Edgett's Pharmacy" Otsego at First Street. He later moved his business to 46 Otsego Street in 1945. In 1948, his became the first local pharmacy to sell veterinary medicines. He retired in 1963. Robert Baker died January 23, 1985 at the age of 83. Mr. Baker was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ilion, the Ilion Masonic Lodge 591, the Iroquois Chapter No. 236. the Ilion Community Club and Winter Club. He was survived by his wife, Mildred; one brother, Philo, Ilion; a sister, Mary Baker of Ilion; two nieces and was predeceased by a brother, Spencer. Hew was buried in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
