Ilion Resident To Be Ordained

Ilion - Rev. William P. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Anderson, 61 Hoefler Ave., will be ordained to the Catholic priesthood for the Archdiocese of Washington, D. C., June 7 in St. Matthew's Cathedral Washington by His Excellency Archbishop Patrick A O'Boyle.

A member of the Church of the Annunciation, he was graduated from Annunciation School in 1940 and attended Ilion High School for three years after which he entered St. Andrew's Preparatory Seminary, Rochester, where he completed his high school and classical studies.

He received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Our Lady of Angels Seminary, Niagara University. His theological studies were taken at Theological College, Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C., where he received the degree of Licentiate of Sacred Theology.

Father Anderson will offer his first Solemn Mass in Annunciation Church at 11 a.m. June 15. The Rev. Daniel A. Horan, pastor of the newly ordained, will be arch-priest at the Mass. The Rev. David LaVoie, assistant pastor of Annunciation parish, will be deacon and the Rev. Edward J. Beatty of the diocese of Raleigh, N. C., will be subdeacon.

The Rev. James A. Nolan, former pastor of the local church now pastor of St. Joseph's Troy, will preach at the Mass. During the afternoon there will be a reception in Annunciation School Hall from 3 to 5.

Father Anderson will be assigned by Archbishop O'Boyle shortly after his ordination to parish work in the Washington archdiocese.
