Ilion Students Win Many Special Honors As They Graduate From Various Colleges

The names of several Ilion students have been added to the growing list of men and women being graduated this June from the nation's colleges and universities.

Four Ilion girls are included in 55 seniors to graduated at the 40th commencement exercises of Keuka College on Monday, June 14th. They are: Miss Barbara Murray, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. Garretson Murray, of 183 John St.; Miss Katharine Panarites, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Panarites, 34 Otseo St.; Miss June Ellen Murray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Murray of 71 Charles St; and Miss Lois Hall, daughter of Mrs. Marguerite Rich, 350 South Fourth Ave.

Miss Katrina Rudd, 134 John St. was graduated from Hartwick College, Oneonta, on June 7.

Hamilton College has announced the graduation of Robert B. Parsons 41 North Third Ave., scheduled for this Sunday at the college. A graduate of Ilion High School, Parsons was a member of the Charaltans college dramatic group in his junior year. Parsons added to hit knowledge of French language at Hamilton and brought to the college an unusual versatility in Japanese.

John W. Parkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Parkinson, 40 Montgomery St., was graduated from Ithaca College on June 5, with the degree of Bachelor of Science In Physical Education.

Frank E. Sheffield, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sheffield, 141 S. Fifth Ave., is a candidate for the Bachelor degree at Syracuse University commencement exercises to be held on June 14th.

Sheffield, majoring in retail merchandising and light construction will receive his degree from the New York State College of Forestry.

Three students from Ilion are candidates for two-year certificates at Mohawk College. They are James R. Hildreth, 373 Otsego St.; Paul Junior Hoffman, 12 W. Montgomery St., and John P. Markley, 22 MCann St. Hildreth is in liberal arts and other two are in the pre-engineering program.

Frederick A. Best, 146 E. North St., was among 1,801 to win honors on the distinguished student rating list of Purdue University for the first semester of the current school year according to a list released from the office of C. E. Dammon, registrar and director of admissions.
