Ilion High 1944 Graduates To Hold Tenth Anniversary Party ILION - The Class of 1944 of Ilion High School will reunite at the Palmer House, Saturday, for a 6 p.m. dinner and 10th anniversary celebration. The group was one of the war time classes with several members in the service who deferred getting their diplomas until the war was over. Dr. Everett V. Mack, then class faculty adviser and science instructor, will be guest of honor and principal speaker. After acquiring a teacher's certificate, Dr. Mack decided to become a doctor and later graduated from Syracuse University. He practiced in Ilion for two years and this year completes extended education at Syracuse University and will return to practice here. Allan Murray, class president, later a graduate of Utica College, now assistant purchasing agent at Griffiss Air Force Base, will be master of ceremonies. It is expected 80 of the 96 graduates in the class will attend. Much of the work in bringing the class together again has been done by Miss June Murray, class vice president, now secretary of Central Adirondack Association, Old Forge; Miss Eleanor Tracy, Ilion, and nine assistants. Those sending regrets include the Rev. William Anderson, St. Anne's Church, Washington, D.C.; Brother Stephen Waldruff, POR, Catholic University, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Joyce Chismore Lewin, valedictorian, who after graduation obtained her bachelor of science degree at Cornell, her master's degree at Yale and her PhD also at Yale. At banquet time she will be on her way to Paris to the International Congress to present a paper on scientific research. The class prophecy foretold that Joyce Carroll, by 1954, would be Mrs. Douglas Bullis and the mother of three children. In attendance will be Douglas Bullis and Mrs. Joyce Carroll Bullis, the parents of two children. Another graduate, Thomas Hanley, is pictured in the year book wearing the uniform of an Army private. Today he is a lieutenant stationed at Indian Head, Md., following time-out to get a bachelor of arts degree at the University of Miami and starting work on his master's degree at George Washington-University.
