Arnon Lyon Comstock was graduated from the Ilion high school, class of 1897. He was one of three classmates who became physicians; the other two classmates were Harry H. Halliwell and C. Joseph Diss. Arnon first studied medicine with his father, Dr. Frederick Comstock, who had an office at 94 Morgan St. He entered the Long Island College of Medicine which was his father's Alma Mater. Arnon Comstock and former IHS 1897 classmate, C. Joseph Diss, both studied at Bellevue Medical College together. Arnon Comstock graduated in 1899 with his medical degree. He later established his medical practice in Cuyler, NY. After his father died in 1904, Arnon Comstock moved to Ilion and opened the office, on Morgan street, formerly occupied by his father, Dr. Frederick F. Comstock.

Arnon Lyon Comstock, M. D. Arnon Lyon Comstock was graduated from the Ilion high school, class of 1897, then studied medicine with his father, after which he entered Long Island College, his father's Alma Mater, where he was graduated in 1899, with the degree of M. D. The following year he served as an interne in the Faxton Hospital in Utica, New York, then located in Ilion, where he has been practicing his profession since that time.
On April 4, 1908, in Rome, New York, Dr. Comstock was united in marriage to Miss Frances Henrietta Ellis, who was born on October 5, 1882, daughter of Charles and Mary E. (Wright) Ellis.
Mrs. Comstock is a descendant, on her mother's side, of Edward Doty who came over in the Mayflower. She is a member of the New England Colony of New England Women; the Mohawk Valley Chapter, D. A. R.; and the Travelers and Shakespeare Clubs, both of Ilion. She is a graduate of the Rome high school, class of 1900, and of Syracuse University Library School in 1902. Her church affiliations are with the First Presbyterian church of Ilion. Dr. and Mrs. Comstock have two children: Charles Raymond Comstock, who was born on November 10, 1898; and Jean Allyn Comstock, who was born on January 18, 1912. Dr. Comstock is a member of the Herkimer County Medical Society and of the New York State Medical Society. He is a member of the Ilion Lodge, No. 491, F. and A. M. and a trustee; Iroquois Chapter No. 236, R. A.; Khorassan Grotto, No. 2; and of the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets, all of Ilion. He served with the New York State National Guards from 1902 to 1908 in Company M, Second Regiment, as first lieutenant of the Medical Corps and also served on the draft board during the period of World War. He is a member of the Ilion Masonic Club, the American Canoe Association, and of the First Baptist church of Ilion. In politics, he is a republican and for diversion enjoys nature study, camping and fishing.

ARNON COMSTOCK A VICTIM OF TUBERCULOSIS Physician Had Been in Failing Health, However, for Over a Year Dr. Arnon Comstock, son of the late Dr. Frederick Comstock, died at his home on Morgan Street shortly after 12 o'clock this morning. For the past year and a half he had been a sufferer from tuberculosis which was the cause of death. He had only been confined to his bed for the past two days. The deceased was born in this village February 27, 1880. He received his early education in the schools here and graduated from the High School in 1897. The following year he went to a medical college from which institute he graduated in the spring of 1903. After he received his degree, he located in Cuyler, where he built up a large practice. About a year and a half ago, on account of his health, he gave up his practice at that place and came to the village and continued his practice until about a year ago. He was a member of Ilion Lodge. No 841, F. & A. M. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Frederick Comstock and his two brothers, C. [Charles] F. Comstock and Alfred Comstock. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon.

Comstock which occurred at his home in Ilion Thursday morning. Dr. Comstock was an unusually bright and promising physician; he graduated from the Long Island Medical College and practiced his profession at Cuyler, N.Y., until compelled by failing health to return to Ilion; he had a large and most successful practice. In spite of every possible resource, he steadily failed. Dr. Comstock was but 26 years and 9 months old; he had bright prospects for a successful life; he was an exemplary young man and his death is deeply mourned. The funeral will be held from his residence on West street, Ilion, Sunday. He is survived by his mother. Mrs. Alice Comstock, and two brothers, Charles and Frederick.
